Daniel Kochmański<p><a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/Discord" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Discord</span></a> is a terrible communication platform with all its distractions and malfeatures. I've used it to stay in touch with <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/lisp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lisp</span></a> programmers that are not on IRC nor on fediverse. But today they've crossed the line - they've shown me an ad, an ad that has obfucaed the chat at that. I've disabled the account and not going to use it anymore. Good ridding I guess.</p>
Ricard Torres<p>📍Seoul, South Korea </p><p>I saw a young woman in the bullet train using discord with several servers chatting at the speed of light. In English 😯</p><p>I couldn&#39;t help but peak, as she seats next to me 🙈</p><p>Not only her English is fantastic 💯 but they are sharing stuff as if in an encrypted communication tool.</p><p>I don&#39;t love that <a href="https://ricard.social/tags/Discord" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Discord</span></a> is not encrypted. Wondering what&#39;s out there that&#39;s similar but offers more safety?</p>
Ricard Torres<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://puddle.town/@null" class="u-url mention">@<span>null</span></a></span> I&#39;d say it&#39;s worse than Slack. Its threads feature is quite different and thus nobody uses it, so they spam the channel with replies. It&#39;s very annoying and, as you said, noisy.</p><p><a href="https://ricard.social/tags/Discord" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Discord</span></a> <a href="https://ricard.social/tags/Slack" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Slack</span></a></p>
