In 2018, the “Hermitage Amsterdam” hosted ‘Classic Beauties’, an exhibition on neoclassicism. Featuring over 60 works by 25 leading artists, it explored the influence of antiquity on 18th-century art.

Until 2022 it hosted exhibitions featuring art from the “Hermitage” in Saint Petersburg but eventually, the ties with Russia were severed, due to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. By fall 2023, the museum was renamed to “H’ART Museum”

“ACCEPTTHIS” is a well known street artist in the scene. This stencil head of ‘good old Kurt Cobain’ is glued to a wall at the NDSM-Wharf.

The “NDSM” as a creative hub (turning into another suburb fast) still has some of its dark glamour, and is known for its impressive street art collection. The area draws artists from around the world, adding to its dynamic and evolving atmosphere.

“I don’t wa$te my time” is an artwork by Dutch artist Selwyn Senatori. Presented to the public in January 2022, this oversized pedal bin symbolizes the idea that time is our ultimate luxury.

It stands, inconspicuous and dented, on a concrete pedestal at Rokin.

The piece was part of the “Out of Office Forever” project, which reimagined office life during COVID-19, including oversized office items like giant coffee mugs, displayed in spring 2021. ️ ️

The statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Churchill-laan was created by sculptor Karel Gomes and placed in .

Its location is symbolic, as Churchill and Gandhi were political opponents. Churchill once called Gandhi a ‘half-naked fakir’ but later sent his condolences after Gandhi crossed over to the other side.

The statue shows a humble Gandhi,walking in a dhoti and sandals, holding a staff and a book. A colorful stone pattern leading to the statue symbolizes the unity of opposites he sought during his life.

Ringdijk is a former residential address in the Watergraafsmeer neighborhood and has been squatted for quite some years by the “Anarcha-Feminist Group”.

With two fierce, seemingly Asian styled, leopards on its facade it’s hard to miss.

The Ringdijk, which surrounds the Watergraafsmeer polder, functions both as a flood defense and a scenic street with a mix of modern and traditional homes.

To safeguard the area against rising water levels, the dike has recently been raised by approximately 30 centimeters.

The Caetsbaanbrug (Bridge 112) is a fixed bridge, spanning the Lauriergracht and connecting the Prinsengracht’s southwest quay. Its name comes from the historic “Kaatsbaanpad”, which existed here before the canal was dug. The bridge dates back to at least , as seen on old maps.

In 1704, a three-arched version was built, similar to nearby bridges. The current structure, made of wrought iron and buckled plates, was constructed in .
